Matiq Labs School & District Partnership
Educators in a Learning and Design Lab session
Matiq Labs · School & District Partnership

Your educators already know
what needs to change.
We help them act on it.

Schools that invest in their educators not just their curriculum see the results in classroom culture, staff retention, and student outcomes. Matiq Labs builds that capacity from the inside out.

Whether you're navigating a school improvement plan, LCAP accountability metrics, corrective action requirements, or a staff culture that's fractured and hard to reach this work was designed for those conditions.

  • Educator PD that doesn't connect to your school's actual data or challenges
  • Staff disengagement and high turnover draining institutional knowledge
  • Discipline referrals concentrated in specific classrooms and no clear path forward
  • Compliance requirements that demand evidence of systemic improvement
  • A staff that has been through too many outside consultants and doesn't trust the process
1
Discovery
Site visits, educator surveys, and administrator interviews to understand what's actually happening before we touch anything. We look at your data, your culture, and the specific pressures your staff is carrying.
2
Lab Facilitation
Structured, cross-role sessions where teachers, coaches, and administrators investigate root causes together using the SEE / NAME / DESIGN / ACT framework. Educators design responses that belong to them not handed down from outside.
3
Documentation & Strategic Planning
Findings are synthesized into actionable recommendations, data summaries, and frameworks your team can use for strategic planning, LCAP documentation, and board-level communication.
Educators are the solution not the problem
Our work fixes systems and conditions, not the people doing the work inside them.
Practitioner voice drives every design decision
Teachers and staff who are closest to the problem are the most qualified to solve it.
Data without context is just noise
We use culturally responsive data inquiry so your staff understands what the numbers actually mean.
Equity requires changing policies, not people
Commitments aren't enough practices and structures have to change accordingly.

"I came in skeptical. Professional development has burned me before. But this was different. It respected my time and my expertise."

  • Site-Embedded Facilitation
We work inside your school not from a conference room. Sessions are built around your calendar and your staff's actual challenges.
  • Root Cause Analysis Sessions
Collaborative inquiry that co-identifies the beliefs, practices, and systems driving inequity with your team, not for them.
  • Educator Surveys & Data Cycles
Regular data collection reviewed together so participants see and shape their own progress over time.
  • Cross-Role Collaboration
Teachers, coaches, counselors, and administrators in the same room breaking down silos that compliance language can't reach.
  • Strategic Recommendations Report
Documented findings and co-constructed recommendations ready for LCAP, SIP, or board-level presentation.
  • Communication Support
Matiq Labs can co-present findings to leadership, district teams, or community stakeholders.

Aligned to Your LCAP Priorities

School Climate and Safety (Priority 6). The Learning & Design Lab directly builds the conditions your LCAP names under climate: reduced referral and suspension rates, stronger staff-student relationships, and restorative systems that actually work because educators designed them. When staff investigate discipline data through their own lens, the patterns become impossible to ignore — and the solutions become possible to own.

Educator Effectiveness and Professional Development (Priorities 1 and 2). Professional development is an allowable LCAP action. The L&D Lab is evidence-based PD with third-party-validated outcomes — a 4.7/5 daily-work applicability rating from Hanover Research and 72% of participants implementing new practices within 90 days. That is documentation your LCAP can point to.

Focal Student Groups: English Learners, Low-Income Students, Foster Youth, and Students with Disabilities. The Lab is built for the students California designates as focal. When staff investigate inequity through their own school data, the students most impacted are the first to benefit. Matiq Labs brings specific expertise in special education and disproportionality — surfacing where referrals concentrate, what the data actually shows, and how staff can respond differently.

Parent and Community Engagement (Priority 3). The Lab's inquiry practice surfaces what families and communities have been naming for years. Findings are documented and can be co-presented to your school community, district leadership, or board — turning practitioner-led inquiry into stakeholder-facing accountability.
