Design Lab Cohort — Reimagining Equity at the School Site Level

A six-month cohort where individual educators from different schools work together to identify an equity challenge at their own site, design a response, pilot it, and share what they learned.

Who it serves: Individual educators currently working in K–12 schools — teachers, counselors, site leaders, and support staff. Cross-site, cross-role. No stated geographic restriction; open application. Participants receive a stipend.

What it includes:

  • Virtual kickoff session (late August, 90 minutes): orientation, intention-setting, introduction to our lab design

  • 5 monthly virtual design lab sessions (1.5 hours each, semester long)

  • Asynchronous work between sessions (~1–2 hours/month): check-ins, reflection prompts, peer feedback

  • Each participant identifies a school-based equity challenge, designs and pilots a site-specific intervention, presents their work, and contributes to a shared playbook of liberatory strategies

Scale: Cohort-based. 8-10 participants per cohort.

Outcomes: Each participant completes a cycle of inquiry and a documented pilot. Collectively, participants produce a shared toolkit of equity strategies. Peer learning and cross-school connection are explicit goals.
